Sambalpur: A 19-year-old first-year civil engineering student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology drowned while taking a bath at Athara Hazaar power channel under Burla police limits on Thursday. His body was fished out by locals around 11 am within 10 minutes of drowning.
The deceased, Priyangshu Prakash Behera, son of Sanjay Kumar Behera from Dhenkanal, had been to the power channel for bathing. While taking a bath, his leg slipped, and he fell into the water. He was rushed to VIMSAR, Burla, where doctors declared him dead. IIC, Burla police station, Baliar Singh, said, “His body will be handed over to family after postmortem.”
