10 college students nabbed for hurling stones at EMU train | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: As many as 10 students of Pachaiyappa’s College, including a 17-year-old boy, were arrested for allegedly hurling stones at an EMU train at the Korattur Railway Station on Monday. Police said the accused students targeted some students from the Presidency College travelling on the train. Govt Railway Police (GRP) officials said the incident took place as the train, heading to Arakkonam from Chennai Central, reached the Korattur Railway Station on Monday afternoon.
As soon as it arrived, some students of Pachaiyappa’s College spotted some Presidency College students and started pelting stones at the compartments. Nobody was injured in the attack.
Based on a complaint, police held an inquiry and arrested the 10 students on Monday. “We sent a detailed report, including the First Information Report (FIR), to the college administration concerned about the arrest of their students,” said an officer.
While nine of them were sent for judicial custody, the minor boy was sent to an observation home for boys in Kellys.
