Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent remarks made by AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, calling them a blatant attempt to mislead the people of both states. Addressing a press conference in Siddipet, Harish Rao said Chandrababu Naidu’s claim that he never opposed the Kaleshwaram project was a complete lie. “The fact is AP CM Naidu himself wrote a letter to the Centre on June 13, 2018, officially objecting to the project’s approval,” he revealed, releasing a copy of the letter to expose Naidu’s double standards.
The BRS leader also took strong objection to Naidu’s statement that “AP and Telangana are like two eyes that must be treated equally”. He questioned whether leaving Telangana’s Nagarjunasagar left canal dry while drawing water fully from the right canal for AP reflects this so-called equality. He reminded that AP, which was temporarily allocated 512 tmc ft of Krishna water, consumed 655 tmc ft, while Telangana, entitled to 343 tmc ft, received only 220 tmc ft. “This injustice continues only because Naidu and BJP, using their influence at the Centre, silenced Telangana’s voice,” the Siddipet MLA said.
He also criticised Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy for his complete inaction. “Despite Congress and BJP having eight MPs each and two Union ministers from Telangana, no one is standing up for the state’s interests. Revanth Reddy neither has the courage to confront Chandrababu Naidu nor the spine to question BJP,” he said, adding “Revanth’s approach in Delhi is one of fear, and his approach to Chandrababu is one of loyalty.”
