NAMAKKAL: The body of a missing private bank branch manager was recovered from a railway track at Pasupathipalayam in Karur district on Wednesday, a day after his wife and two children were found dead in their home in Namakkal town.
The bank manager, identified as Premraj of Pari Nagar in Namakkal, took the extreme step as he had suffered a loss of Rs 50 lakh in online gambling.
On Tuesday, the Namakkal police recovered the bodies of Premraj’s wife P Mohanapriya, 35, and their daughter Prinithi Raj, 6, and son Prenith Raj, 2, after neighbours alerted them. Premraj was missing then. A letter recovered from the home indicated that he had lost Rs 50 lakh in online gambling. The police attempted to contact him, but his cell phone was switch off. It was not clear whether he killed his wife and children or they died by suicide, police said.
On Wednesday, the Karur police informed the Namakkal town police about the recovery of a man’s body from a railway track. The Namakkal police and his relative went to Karur district and identified the body.
Initial investigations suggested that Premraj killed himself by jumping in front of a speeding train in the early hours of Wednesday.
