CM, Uttam urge Centre to release Rs 1.8k cr owed for T rice pending for 10 years | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy and civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday urged Union food and consumer affairs minister Pralhad Joshi to release Rs 1,891 crore dues to Telangana for rice supplied to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) during the 2014-15 kharif season.
In the meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, the CM reminded the Union minister that the dues have been pending for 10 years.
Revanth and Uttam also requested Joshi to confirm the orders related to the additional rice supplied from May 2021 to March 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and the rice supplied in April 2022 and release the arrears of 343.27 crore.
“Also, ensure the immediate release of Rs 79.09 crore arrears related to the rice distributed under the Non-NFSA (National Food Security Act) from June 2021 to April 2022,” Revanth said.
Joshi was also urged to extend the deadline for Custom Milled Rice (CMR) by at least four months instead of one month to ensure there is no problem in supply.
Joshi, who is also the minister for new and renewable energy, was requested to restore the permission for 4,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power generation to Telangana state under the PM Kusum scheme. The CM brought to the notice of the Union minister that the Centre, which previously gave permissions for 4,000 MW, later reduced it to 1,000 MW. Revanth explained to Joshi that the Telangana govt was promoting solar power generation through women’s groups in the state.
The chief minister’s officer (CMO) later said the Union minister responded positively to the requests made by CM and Uttam
On Monday, Revanth and Uttam had met Union jal shakti minister CR Patil and sought a fair share of water for Telangana in Godavari and Krishna rivers, and urged him to stop AP from diverting more than its allocated share of waters from the two rivers.
