14 Maoists surrender as a result of Operation Cheyutha in Telangana

HYDERABAD: In a major development, 14 Members belonging to banned CPI (Maoist) Party surrendered before the Bhadradri Kothagudem Police on Monday.
They took the step after learning about the welfare measures initiated by the district police and CRPF for the tribal communities through Operation Cheyutha, a reachout program.
During an Athmeeya Sammelanam (gathering) organized by the Police with the family members of the underground cadre and surrendered Maoists in Charla during January 2025, police officials informed the maoist cadres about the benefits of surrendering before the police and also the benefit of availing Govt schemes and also living together with their family members.
B Rohith Raju, SP Bhadradri Kothagudem district said that 44 Maoists surrendered during these programs in the last two months, as a result of this initiative.
“ They have realised that that the banned CPI-Maoist party has lost support and trust among the tribal people for some time now, along with outdated ideologies, is working towards the goal of extortion, obstructing the development of the agency area, and terrorizing the innocent tribal people, believing that they will not survive if the agency area develops,” he added.
He also appealed to the party members who want to surrender and lead a normal life to contact their nearest police station or district higher officials, either through their family members or in person.
