MUMBAI: PL Deshpande’s work is considered as the Happiness Index of Maharashtra and he has made a significant contribution to the cultural fabric of Maharashtra. His sense of humor and language style as well as the joy derived from his literature were pure. The contribution of Marathi artists and fans in the field of art and culture is great and in the field of music, Lata Mangeshkar , Bhimsen Joshi , Asha Bhosale , in the field of drama and cinema, Shriram Lagoo , Nilu Phule and in the field of literature, V. S. Khandekar , P. L. Deshpande , as well as in folk art and the United Maharashtra movement, Annabhau Sathe have made a great contribution from Powada. The evaluation of culture and civilization is based on the literature, culture and language cultivated there, asserted chief minister Devendra Fadnavis here today.
The inauguration ceremony of the renovated complex of P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy under the Cultural Affairs Department was held today by chief minister Shri. Fadnavis.
Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, cultural affairs minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, public works minister Shivendraraje Bhosale, MLA Kalidas Kolambkar, Bhai Girkar, additional chief secretary Vikas Kharge , PL Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy Director Minal Joglekar and others were present at the ceremony.
Chief minister Mr. Fadnavis said , Marathi people have cultivated their love for drama. Many experiments in drama are done , the work of Marathi artists in this field is important in the country. Singers, poets, writers, poets etc. have enriched the lives of our people by preserving their art , literature and culture. Buildings like PL Academy will be built in the state in the future. Hundreds of works befitting the name of poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore have been done here. Howeve , chief minister Fadnavis expressed the hope that this continuity should continue.
Deputy chief minister Shri. Pawar said that the state government has renovated this academy and theatre in a very short time. Work worthy of the name of poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore and senior writer PL Deshpande is being done here. At present, the condition of theatre temples in every village is bad. The Cultural Affairs Department should demand funds for this , there will be no shortage of funds for this , Shri. Pawar assured on this occasion.
Cultural affairs minister Adv. Ashish Shelar said , “ The place of meditation for art seekers is the P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy and Rabindra Natya Mandir. Therefore, it is a sacred building, and it is a building that maintains its sanctity in all respects. Therefore, cultural upliftment programs will be held here.
Cultural Affairs minister Adv. Shelar also announced on this occasion that the International Marathi Film Festival will be held from 21 to 24 April 2025 at the P. L. Academy .
Additional chief secretary of the cultural affairs department and additional chief secretary to the chief minister Mr. Kharge introduced the program, while Mrs. Joglekar, director of PL Deshpande Kala Academy, proposed the vote of thanks.
Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated the PL Kala Academy by playing clips of a picture exhibition, mini theater and ringing the bell.
