Uneven patches row: BMC completes bitumen laying work on Haji Ali bridge | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The BMC-appointed contractors completed work on laying bitumen on the main bridge at Haji Ali under the Mumbai Coastal Road last week. The patches on the northbound stretch of the coastal road drew severe criticism on social media and also triggered a concern from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), considering that this situation came to light less than one year after the infrastructure project was opened to motorists. The BMC said that the patches visible on the coastal road in the viral video were originally mastic layers applied as a preventive measure before the monsoon. The road was asphalted before July 2024.
Work on removing the additional mastic layer began on Feb 22, said civic officials. — Richa Pinto
