Chennai hospital launches Club of Diabetes Excellence | Chennai News – The Times of India

CHENNAI: Gleneagles Hospital Chennai launched the Club of Diabetes Excellence (CODE) aimed at providing holistic diabetes care, education and patient engagement. The club was inaugurated by actor S Ve Sekhar. He launched the dedicated call centre number to educate the public on the diabetes.
The CODE initiative offers a range of benefits to patients, including diabetes education, access to a dedicated diabetes helpline, personalised doctor interactions, networking opportunities and complimentary annual health checks.
The club provides access to exclusive events that empower individuals to take charge of their health while staying informed about the latest advancements in diabetes care. The dedicated call centre number is intended to inform and promote healthy lifestyle choices, prediabetes prevention and diabetes management among youth.
“With over 101 million Indians currently diagnosed with diabetes and an additional 136 million in the pre-diabetic stage, India has emerged as the diabetes capital of the world. The increasing prevalence of diabetes is largely driven by urbanization, genetic predisposition and lifestyle changes. Many individuals remain undiagnosed until complications arise, making regular monitoring and early intervention critical to managing the disease effectively. Through initiatives like CODE, Gleneagles Hospital aims at bridging the gap in diabetes care by encouraging structured patient engagement and proactive health management,” said Dr Ashwin Karuppan V, senior consultant, internal medicine & diabetology.
