Deputy CM Eknath Shinde criticized Uddhav Thackeray for compromising Balasaheb’s ideologies and claimed his recent Prayagraj dip was to cleanse those sins.

THANE: Deputy chief minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde took a swipe at UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray saying he recently took a dip in the confluence of holy rivers at Prayagraj to wash away the sins committed by them (Uddhav) by compromising on the ideologies of Balasaheb Thackeray.
Shinde was responding to media queries Friday in Thane over Thackeray’s acerbic remark on his recent visit to Prayagraj, saying the ‘stamp of traitorship’ will never be washed away no matter how many holy dips they take. It may be recalled Shinde, along with a few of his trusted aides, visited Prayagraj and participated in the Kumbh Mela and also took a dip at the confluence of three sacred rivers last week.
“…They (Uddhav) committed the sin of compromising with Balasaheb’s ideologies and crushing the morale of Sainiks… Should I say I took the holy dip at the confluence to wash away the sins committed by them?… Over 65 crore faithful took the holy dip at Prayagraj, and I was also one of them. It is not surprising to see them comment on my tour as they do not know its importance of Prayagraj as they go to London to wash their sins…,” he said without taking names.
He further dismissed any impact of the UBT statewide tour that is scheduled to start from Thane. “They called us traitors before the elections, but the voters stood behind us in the assembly polls. It is for sure that the voters will ensure they (UBT faction) are swept clean in the coming municipal elections,” he said.
