Advocate kills elder brother over ancestral property

Bengaluru: A dispute between two advocate-siblings over ancestral property led to the younger of them stabbing the elder to death in their Bommanahalli residence Friday morning.
The victim is T Srikanta, 35, and the accused, T Nagendra, 30, who has been arrested. Srikanta is survived by his mother, wife and four-year-old son. Nagendra, who practises in Mysuru, is a bachelor. Their sister is married and lives in Adugodi.
Their father, Thimmappa, converted agricultural land into a residential layout a couple of decades ago and built around 70 houses, police said. Thimmappa died two years ago and since then, the brothers had been fighting for their share in the property.
Nagendra visited Srikanta around 11.30am Friday and again, they got into an argument. “Nagendra grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Srikanta in the chest and stomach. A seriously injured Srikanta was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed at 1.30pm,” a police officer said.
