Two die as bus pushes auto beneath another bus in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: Two men, including an 80-year-old man, were killed after a BMTC bus rear-ended an autorickshaw and shoved it under another BMTC bus moving ahead at Seetha Circle, Banashankari III Stage, Friday.
The deceased are Vishnu Rao Bapat, 80, an Ayurvedic practitioner and resident of Banashankari III Stage, and auto driver Anil Kumar K, 40, from KP Agrahara. Bapat was travelling in Kumar’s auto.
The accident occurred at Hosakerehalli Cross around 11.30am when the BMTC bus slowed down as a car was taking a left turn. Kumar’s auto, behind the bus, also slowed down. However, another bus, which was behind the auto, rammed the three-wheeler, pushing it under the rear portion of the bus ahead, killing the victims instantly.
Traffic came to a standstill for 30 minutes on Hosakerehalli Main Road due to the accident. Bus driver Prasanna was arrested. The bodies were shifted to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences for autopsy. Bapat’s granddaughter, Smriti Rajesh, filed a complaint against Prasanna under BNS Section 106 (causing death by negligence).
