NEET PG cut-off percentile reduction: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has once again lowered the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. Now, the minimum required percentile for all categories has been reduced to the fifth percentile. According to the official notice issued by the NBEMS, the minimum qualifying percentile for candidates in the General/Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Unreserved Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (UR-PwBD), and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes (SC/ST/OBC), including those with disabilities in these categories, has been set at the fifth percentile. However, NBEMS clarified that the NEET PG 2024 rank and percentile score, as published on August 23, 2024, remain unchanged.
The official notice reads, In continuation of NBEMS notice dated 06.01.2025 and pursuant to the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide its letters No. U. 12021/05/2024-MEC dated 20th February 2025, the minimum qualifying percentile for NEET-PG 2024 have been reduced as follows:…”
It also mentions that “Candidature is purely provisional subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as prescribed in the NEET-PG 2024 Information Bulletin.”

Previous cut-off reduction

Earlier this year, the MCC had reduced the cut-off across all categories. Candidates from the general and EWS categories who scored at least the 15th percentile became eligible for counselling. For those belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories, the revised cut-off announced in January was set at the 10th percentile or above to qualify for NEET PG counselling.
