Woman crushed to death, husband & son injured as truck hits bike
Kendrapada: A 32-year-old woman was killed and her husband and four-year-old son sustained serious injuries when a sand-laden truck hit their bike at Tinimuhani Chhack under Kendrapada town police station limits on Monday.
The couple was taking their child to school when the woman was crushed under the wheels of the truck. She was identified as Shardhanjali Prusti, wife of Kamakhya Prasad Sahoo of Mahipal locality within Kendrapada town.
“Both the injured persons are being treated at the district headquarter hospital in Kendrapada,” the inspector in-charge of Kendrapada town police station, Dilip Sahoo, said.
Police have seized the body and sent it to the govt hospital in Kendrapada for an autopsy. Police have also seized the truck and arrested the driver. “We are investigating the case,” Sahoo added.
Following the accident, locals blocked the Kendrapada-Chandabali state highway at Tinimuhani Chhack and as a result, traffic was halted for around two hours. Police officers rushed to the spot and pacified the agitated mob.
