Bengaluru: Four hotel workers have been arrested for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman on the terrace of a hotel in Koramangala past Thursday midnight.
The accused are Ajit from Koramangala, Shivu and Vishwas from HSR Layout, and Shimol from Adugodi. Shimol is from Uttarakhand, while the others are from West Bengal, police said. In their mid-20s, they work in different hotels as assistants and chefs.
The incident came to light when the woman’s husband called the police control room around 7.30am Friday and complained that his wife had been sexually assaulted. A Hoysala patrol vehicle rushed to the woman’s southeast Bengaluru house.
Acting on her complaint, police took the four men into custody for questioning. They were subjected to medical tests and will be produced in court Saturday morning, an officer said.
According to the woman, the four men accosted her when she was near Koramangala V Block. “One of them claimed to know me and invited me for dinner with his three friends. When I agreed, they took me to the terrace of a nearby hotel that had shut for the day. They consumed alcohol and forced me to have it. Then, they gang-raped me,” the woman said.
Around 7am, they told her to go home. “They booked an auto, asking me to travel in it,” she said, adding that after reaching home, she narrated the incident to her husband and they decided to lodge a police complaint.
The woman is from Delhi and lives in Bengaluru with her husband, police said. The couple has four children; three are in Delhi, while the youngest child is in Bengaluru. The husband works as an assistant at a private cellular firm, while the woman is with an event management firm.
