Plan to encourage millet-based liquor production | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The govt has decided to encourage millet-based liquor production by offering incentives and subsidies to manufacturers.
“We are planning to incorporate various measures, including incentives and subsidies for those who intend to produce liquor from millets, in the state excise policy 2025-26,” state excise commissioner Narasingha Bhol said after a high-level meeting on Friday.
“Financial support will be extended to facilitate millet-based liquor production. The excise department will coordinate with the industries department regarding this initiative,” another official said.
The govt is also developing strategies for crafting premium and flavoured mahua-based spirits, sources said. Steps are being taken to establish production facilities for high-quality foreign liquor within the state.
