IMD forecasts 6 days of rain, thunderstorms | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across several districts in the state for six consecutive days, starting Wednesday.
According to a bulletin issued on Tuesday, six districts, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada, are expected to experience rainfall and thunderstorms on Wednesday. “The weather activity is attributed to a western disturbance and a trough line passing over the state,” said Sanjeev Dwivedi, a scientist at the IMD centre in Bhubaneswar.
The intensity of the rainfall is expected to increase on Thursday (Feb 20) and Saturday (Feb 22), affecting both coastal and interior districts. Parts of north Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, have already experienced light rain and thunderstorms.
In response, the special relief commissioner’s (SRC) office hasdirected district collectors to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The IMD has also predicted a rise in night temperatures by 2 to 3°C over the next two days, with no significant changes expected thereafter.
Meanwhile, G Udayagiri recorded the state’s lowest temperature on Tuesday at 10.6 °C, followed by Phulbani at 14°C. Bhubaneswar registered a minimum temperature of 21°C, 1.8°C above normal.
