NEW DELHI: An Air India flight at Karnataka’s Kempegowda International Airport received a bomb threat via e-mail, as per official sources.
“An Air India flight at Kempegowda International Airport received a bomb threat two days ago,” confirmed Sajith VJ, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-East Bengaluru.
An FIR was promptly filed after the threat was reported, and investigations are ongoing, sources said.
In a separate development, Mumbai Police apprehended a man from the Chembur area on Wednesday after receiving a terror threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft ahead of his official visit abroad.
“On 11th February, a call was received at the Mumbai Police control room, warning of a possible terrorist attack on PM Modi’s aircraft as he was about to leave for an official trip. Given the gravity of the threat, police informed other agencies and launched an investigation,” Mumbai Police stated.
The individual responsible for the threat call has been taken into custody from Chembur, with police confirming that he is mentally ill.
Prime Minister Modi, who co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora in Marseille upon his arrival. The summit, which culminated in a High-Level Segment, saw the participation of global leaders and policymakers.
During his visit to France, PM Modi, along with President Macron, is scheduled to tour the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project and pay tribute to Indian soldiers at the Mazargues War Cemetery.
Following his visit to France, PM Modi is set to travel to the United States to meet with President Donald Trump, marking their first meeting since Trump’s second term began.
