Mumbai: CM Devendra Fadnavis set a target of ten ‘Umed Malls‘, to be established, one in each district, for women self-help groups to provide them with a platform to sell their products. The women self-help groups will be provided space in rotation at these malls to sell their products.
Fadnavis, who inaugurated the Mahalaxmi Saras exhibition on Tuesday at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, said when he was CM earlier, he had floated the idea, but only one ‘Umed Mall’ came up in 2018. “Often gram panchayats hold on to land as if they own it. They do not mind it being encroached but refuse to give it up for a good cause,” he said, directing the minister concerned to look into the issue.
