State extends deadline for 2024 Ghatkopar hoarding crash probe panel

Mumbai: The home department, led by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday extended till March 31 the deadline for former chief justice Dilip Bhosale-led commission investigating the May 2024 Ghatkopar hoarding collapse that claimed 16 lives. Set up on June 10, 2024, the commission comprises additional municipal commissioner Ashwini Joshi, additional director general Nikhil Gupta and a deputy secretary from the home department
As per the govt resolution issued on Tuesday, the commission was given more time since it was essential to revamp it as the income-tax office did not depute an additional commissioner. As per the original proposal, it was expected that the income-tax department would be represented by an additional commissioner, but no appointment was made.
