Mumbai: A cable TV operator, Chetan Tikone (45), and his friend, Akshay Gaikwad (26), an AC repair mechanic, have been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering their neighbour, Vikas Pasi, in June 2021. Tikone had suspected that his wife had an extramarital relationship with Pasi.
The victim’s brother was among the witnesses cited by public prosecutor Ranjana Budhwant. He deposed that after dinner on June 15, 2021, Pasi and he went to sleep. Around 2.30am, Pasi woke up to get water from a common tap, about 300m from their house. After some time, the brother heard Pasi’s screams and rushed out. He saw Tikone and Gaikwad attacking Pasi. He said while Tikone stabbed Pasi on the chest and a hand with a knife, Gaikwad assaulted him on the head with a steel rod. The witness said when he went towards the attackers, they fled on a scooter. The victim was rushed to a hospital but died. tnn
