Parents of Uran ZP School Students Protest After Teacher Hits Minor Girl Students for Not Completing Homework

Navi Mumbai: Several parents of students from a Zilla Parishad school in Uran protested at the school gate after some students from classes 3 and 4 were allegedly punished by a male teacher. The teacher reportedly slapped and hit the students with a ruler on their palm for not completing their homework on Monday.
A video has gone viral on social media showing the minor schoolgirls crying and displaying marks on their faces after being slapped by the teacher.
Jitendra Misal, Senior Inspector of Uran Police Station, said, “Upon receiving information about the protest by parents of ZP school students, a police team was sent to the spot to prevent any untoward incident. As the parents demanded legal action against the concerned school teacher, identified as Ashok Kute, he was detained for inquiry. However, none of the parents lodged a police complaint against Kute and have demanded that the school management take appropriate action against him. Hence, as of now, an FIR has not been registered against the teacher Kute.”
Priyanka Mhatre, the education officer of Uran taluka, said, “Regarding the incident alleging the ill-treatment of schoolgirls by the teacher at the ZP school, I have sent a report to the higher authorities at Alibaug seeking disciplinary action against the teacher.”
