Police said the incident took place on Dec 27 last year when the victim, Harin Varalia, received a phone call from an individual posing as a bank executive.
The caller convinced him to visit a fake website under the pretext of redeeming reward points on his credit card. Once the victim entered his personal banking details, the fraudsters used them to make a purchase worth Rs 33,543.
On realising that he was cheated, the victim contacted his bank and the cybercrime helpline (1930) to report the fraud.
