Tamil Nadu is unsafe for women, children: EPS

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday criticised the state govt’s handling of crimes against women and children. “Tamil Nadu is unsafe,” he posted on X.
The former chief minister expressed shock over a woman passenger being pushed out of a moving train by a molester and the assault of a woman sub-inspector at a police station in Sivaganga.
Palaniswami posted on X that continuation of such incidents was the outcome of the state govt’s alleged negligence regarding women’s safety.
“It’s the height of shame that women in Tamil Nadu cannot walk safely on the road, go to schools, colleges and workplaces, and now even travel on trains,” he said.
EPS demanded stringent action against those responsible for crimes against women.
In another post, the AIADMK leader described the alleged sexual harassment of a Class IV student at a Manapparai school as heartbreaking.
EPS said chief minister M K Stalin was undertaking a “promotional photoshoot” tour amidst these events.
