BENGALURU: In a major relief for chief minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, and others, the Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed the petition seeking to transfer the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) alternative sites allotment case involving them to a CBI probe.
Snehamayi Krishna, one of the complainants in the case, had filed the petition. Justice M. Nagaprasanna rejected the petition, observing that the investigation conducted by the Lokayukta police did not appear to be biased or one-sided.
The judge also noted that the investigation by the CBI, as sought by the petitioner, is not a cure-all for the issues raised.
In his petition, filed immediately after the dismissal of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition on September 24, 2024, challenging the sanction accorded by Governor Taawarchand Gehlot, Snehamayi Krishna claimed that an impartial probe was not possible, as Siddaramaiah wields immense power and influence over state departments, particularly state investigative agencies such as the police and the Karnataka Lokayukta police.
Siddaramaiah is named as the primary accused in the case, with his wife, B.M. Parvathi, as the second accused.
Allegations suggest that Siddaramaiah used his political influence to secure compensation for 14 sites in his wife’s name in exchange for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land acquired by MUDA.
The petitioner, Snehamayi Krishna, objected to the ongoing investigation by the Karnataka Lokayukta and requested a CBI inquiry instead.
