Mumbai: The city is set for a hot weekend, with daytime temperatures projected to soar to 36°C by Saturday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On Thursday, the Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.4°C, 3.5°C above normal, and the Colaba observatory 30°C, 0.3°C above normal. Minimum temperatures remained close to normal, with Colaba recording 20°C and Santacruz 17.6°C.
In its 48-hour forecast issued on Thursday, the IMD predicted maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 36°C and 21°C, respectively.
According to the weather experts, anticyclonic easterly winds have taken over the state, pushing up temperatures across the Konkan region, including Mumbai.
