MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Wednesday asked the state to inform what action was taken against an officer of Badlapur police station who delayed registering the FIR in the school sexual assault case.
Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale were hearing a suo motu PIL regarding the incidents of August 12 and 13. The FIR was lodged on Aug 16.
On Dec 16, the HC was informed that the officer was suspended and her two years’ increment stopped following a departmental inquiry.
Advocate Ajinkya Gaikwad, representing a parent of one of the two minors, said there was an 11-hour delay in the registration of the FIR.
He said departmental proceedings are not an alternative to criminal proceedings. The judges then asked the prosecutor to inform what action was taken against the officer.
