Mumbai: In a setback to MPCC president Nana Patole, the AICC on Friday stayed the appointments made by him in the recent past. A week ago, Patole had appointed Arvind Naik the Navi Mumbai Congress president, while Rajesh Pawade was appointed the Nanded District Congress Committee.
In a statement, AICC general secretary Ramesh Chennithala said a PCC cannot make such appointments without approval of the AICC. In Congress circles it is believed that Patole is on his way out in view of the massive debacle in the assembly election.
It was expected that Patole will be replaced immediately, but the decision has been delayed for political reasons. “We expect that Patole will be replaced soon,” a Congress politician said.
The Congress politcian said that former ministers Amit Deshmukh and Bunty Patil were front-runners for the post.
