BMC now bans trenching on CC roads for 20 yrs – The Times of India

Mumbai: The BMC has decided not to allow trenching on newly laid cement concrete (CC) roads across the city for the next two decades. Civic officials said that all public utilities, including BEST, telecom, and gas providers, have been informed that BMC will not provide them trenching permission for the next 20 years. “Therefore, if they need any work to be done with regard to the laying of utility cables, it should be done when the road is being concretised,” said an official. The BMC plans to concretise over 700km of roads in Mumbai at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. — Richa Pinto
