Keonjhar: Police have arrested an owner of a Jan Seva Kendra in Keonjhar district for allegedly attempting to rape an 11-year-old tribal girl on Thursday, when she came to the centre for Aadhaar correction.
According to reports, the girl and her father had gone to the centre for the correction of the date of birth in her Aadhaar card. The owner, Sujit Kumar Sahu, sent her father to bring the proof of date of birth from the school. When her father went to fetch the certificate, the accused allegedly molested the girl. The girl’s screams were heard by a nearby shopkeeper and people, who rushed to the centre. Later, Sahu’s’s brother and grandfather tried to resolve the matter.
After getting news about the incident, villagers rushed to the centre and attacked Sahu. Upon getting information, police came and rescued Sahu. The villagers staged a protest and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. Inspector Ramakant Soi said, “The accused has beens arrested after receiving a complaint. Further investigation is on.”TNN
