Tata Power, OREDA sign MoU for rooftop solar system | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) joined forces with Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) Limited to accelerate rooftop solar system adoption among residential customers in the state. The partnership was formalised through an MoU on Monday. It aims to implement the centrally-sponsored scheme, Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY), across the state.
The MoU was signed by OREDA Limited CEO Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan and Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha, with deputy chief minister KV Singh Deo and chief secretary Manoj Ahuja in attendance.
Under this initiative, TPREL, designated as one of OREDA’s preferred solar partners, will provide comprehensive solar solutions with lifetime care. The company will collaborate with OREDA and financial partners to conduct awareness campaigns at airports, malls, and railway stations. Besides, to strengthen community engagement, the company will also develop educational materials on renewable energy benefits, conduct sessions for local vendors, and foster local technical expertise by training rooftop installation and maintenance staff. “This collaboration with OREDA underscores our enduring commitment to the state and its people. We are proud to support the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and are aligned with the state govt’s vision of mainstreaming solar power,” said Sinha.
The programme will initially focus on Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradip, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore, and Rourkela. Notably, Odisha offers the highest solar subsidies in India, making solar adoption more accessible to consumers. OREDA chief executive said the state’s solar potential, stating that the partnership with Tata Power is a significant step toward harnessing Odisha’s vast solar energy potential sustainably.
Tata Power currently manages four discoms in Odisha through a public-private partnership model. The company, through its initiatives, demonstrates its commitment to transform the state’s energy landscape while advancing India’s net zero goals.
