Elgar accused warn of strike for ‘violation of their rights’ | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Undertrial prisoners in the Elgar Parishad case, through co-accused and advocate Surendra Gadling, have issued a notice to Navi Mumbai police commissioner and Taloja jail superintendent, about a hunger strike if prison guards are deployed for the upcoming Coldplay concert.
It was alleged that the jail administration had issued a notice that all guards would be deployed to the concert from Jan 18 to 21, leading to suspension of all court productions for undertrials, and cancellation of routine medical work for sick prisoners.
In their notice, the undertrials argued that this violates their fundamental rights and human rights, and sought withdrawal of the order by Sunday.
Jail officials and Navi Mumbai police commissioner did not respond to queries by TOI.
