2 killed as speeding car hits mini truck on NH-16 | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Two individuals, including a labourer, died while two others sustained grievous injuries after a speeding car collided head-on with a mini truck on NH-16 near Janla on the city outskirts on Monday.
Sources said the car travelling from Khurda towards Bhubaneswar veered out of control, jumped the median and rammed into the mini truck coming from the opposite direction. Harendra Singh (55) of Nayagarh, the truck’s helper, died on the spot. Pratap Nayak (45), who was employed at a nearby construction site, was crossing the highway when he got stuck in the accident and died, police said.
The collision disrupted traffic on NH-16 for nearly an hour. Info Valley police rushed to the spot after getting information, seized the vehicles involved in the incident, and restored traffic flow.
“Both the car and mini truck drivers sustained sever injuries and were admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Three women travelling in the car sustained minor injuries,” said Krupasindhu Barad, inspector in-charge, Info Valley police station.
Police have registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
