Cuttack’s culinary delights win hearts | Bhubaneswar News

Cuttack: The millennium city’s iconic dishes like dahibara-aloodum and thunka puri with chhena curry stole the show at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event here on Thursday as delegates savoured delicacies being sold at the food stalls at Silver City Boat Club on the banks of the Mahanadi river.
Savita, an NRI from USA, said, “We travelled to several places trying out new food items, but this dahibara-aloodum takes the cake — it’s too good. We will definitely spread the word about this lovely cuisine in the US and encourage residents there to try it when they visit here.”
Punya Anant, a delegate from Dubai, said, “The blend of spices and the tangy flavour of the curd make dahibara aloodum truly exceptional. It’s a dish that perfectly reflects the culture of Cuttack. I’ll definitely miss this back home.”
Even the lesser-known and yet equally delicious thunka puri and chhena curry also won hearts. D Manisha from Dubai said, “I haven’t tasted anything like this before and it’s a must try for everyone visiting Cuttack.”
Besides, several millet-based foods also earned the delegates praise who noted how these dishes combined health benefits with authentic culinary artistry.
Ipsita Mishra, deputy commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), said, “The food stalls received an overwhelming response. We didn’t anticipate that the NRIs would be so fond of these local cuisines since almost all food stalls were sold out.”
