Puri: A servitor of Puri Jagannath Temple has been suspended from temple service for assaulting a fellow servitor last month. Chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Arabinda Padhee, issued the suspension order to Mukha Pakhal servitor Biswanath Khuntia for abusing and attacking Madan Mohan Khuntia. Biswanath has been barred from rendering any services for the next three months. Earlier, SJTA had issued a show-cause notice to both servitors regarding the incident which occurred on Dec 16 over the distribution of ‘Avakash Paduka’ among devotees near the Beherana Dwara. The heated exchange escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in Madan suffering bleeding injuries on his nose. Subsequently, Padhee instructed both individuals to provide a satisfactory explanation within seven days explaining why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.TNN
