EOU searches premises of Beur jail superintendent in DA case – Times of India
Patna: Sleuths of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations related to superintendent of Beur Central Jail, Vidhu Kumar, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
According to EOU officials, an FIR was registered against the jail superintendent on Friday, following which they started the investigation. “Initially, the investigators received evidence related to disproportionate earnings of a total of 146% more than his legitimate income,” the officials said. During the search, the teams seized several documents related to financial transactions and properties.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at his office, govt residence near the jail premises and ancestral home in Vishanpur village under Bihta police station area. Vidhu was transferred from Motihari Central Jail to Patna on June 30 last year. Prior to this, he was posted at Purnia, Siwan and Katihar jails.
Apart from Patna, the EOU and the GST team raided several places of land dealer Neeraj Singh in Motihari on Saturday. Two separate teams from Patna investigated several places of Neeraj for about four hours. According to sources, the EOU and the GST department received information regarding tax evasion.
Both teams are investigating Singh’s residence in Patora village under Mufassil police station area. When Vidhu was posted at Motihari jail, he came in contact with Singh.
