Library Management Software: IIT Bhubaneswar Holds Training on Open Source Library Management Software | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: The central library of IIT Bhubaneswar organised a five-day programme on ‘Open Source Library Management Software’ with the objective of spreading awareness and providing hands-on training on various open-source tools and software to library professionals.
The first such training programme was held from June 3 to 7.
Around 30 participants from reputed institutions across the country were provided with practical training and detailed deliberations.
V Pandu Ranga, dean of continuing education at IIT Bhubaneswar, stated that the role of open-source tools has become indispensable in the dynamic and rapidly evolving digital age. These tools, like Koha and DSpace, not only democratise access to information but also empower libraries to manage resources more effectively and efficiently, he added.
Sasidhar Kondaraju, chairperson of the central library said the training is designed to extend practical and hands-on experience to the library professionals. The participants will be able to implement these systems in their respective institutions after the training, he added.TNN
