Lawbreakers to get free entry, special treatment at police stations: Advisory – Times of India

Patna: Lawbreakers involved in drunk or stunt driving, speeding and fighting on streets will receive free entry and a special treatment at respective police stations, said a Patna police traffic advisory issued on the New Year eve on Tuesday.
Traffic SP Aprajit Lohan said that in view of the New Year celebrations, all heads of traffic police stations were directed to conduct vehicle-checking drives with breath analysers in their respective areas from 10pm on Tuesday.”Any driver found in an inebriated condition will be sent to the concerned local police station,” he said.
More than 69 magistrates and police officers have been deployed at 87 key locations, with special mobile teams conducting intensive patrolling. Quick Response Teams have been stationed at main sites to control biker gangs. All subdivisional officers and subdivisional police officers have been instructed to deploy additional magistrates and forces in their respective areas as needed.
Special vigilance will be maintained on Atal Path, Marine Drive, Dak Bungalow to Rupaspur and Ruknpura stretch on Bailey Road, besides Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Eco Park, Kumhrar, Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple (Boring Canal Road), Mahavir Mandir, Buddha Smriti Park and Children’s Park among other places.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said 33 magistrates have been deployed in the district control room in four shifts. “Armed forces, fire brigades and other necessary deployments have also been made. The additional collector, disaster management, has been instructed to keep a sufficient number of SDRF personnel and divers ready to deal with any emergency,” he said.
Foot patrolling will be conducted on JP Ganga Path and riverfront routes as well.
The civil surgeon has deployed two ambulances in the district control room and one each at all major public spots with necessary medicines and medical teams.
Drivers have been asked to park their vehicles at designated spots only. “Photographs of illegally parked vehicles, obstructing traffic on main road, will be taken, and they will be towed,” said the advisory.
As per the traffic plan, auto/e-rickshaws will not operate east of Dumra Chowki and IPS Mess turn in case of heavy traffic on Bailey Road. All vehicles will be diverted towards the airport, or else they will have to take a U-turn from Dumra Chowki crossing.
No vehicle (except govt) will be allowed to go towards Eco Park beyond the east of Circular Road and beyond Karpuri roundabout. Parking on road near Patna Zoo (Gate 1), Rajbanshi Nagar’s Hanuman Temple, Kumhrar Park and Mahavir Mandir will not be allowed.
