Thane: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appointed senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as special prosecutor to ensure swift justice in the brutal rape and murder case of a 12-year-old girl from Kalyan. The Thane police on Saturday conducted a crime scene reconstruction. DCP Atul Zende of Zone-3 confirmed that investigators took the accused to Bapgaon, Bhiwandi, where the victim’s body was found. “As part of the probe, we carried out the recreation of the crime scene with both accused to understand their movements, including the time taken and vehicle used to reach the location,” Zende said. Zende refused to divulge any more details, citing the ‘seriousness’ of the case. Meanwhile, the victim’s family met Chief Minister Fadnavis seeking justice for their daughter. tnn
