Keonjhar: Additional district magistrate and special judge for Pocso cases in Keonjhar, sentenced a 31-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Tuesday for raping a 12-year-old girl. A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed on him.
The incident occurred in 2017 when he entered the girl’s house, whom he knew, at night and committed the heinous act while her mother was asleep. The prosecution, led by special public prosecutor Ganesh Prasad Mohapatra, presented the testimonies of 20 witnesses and the police report, which played a crucial role in securing the conviction. In addition to the sentence, the court ordered the convict to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the survivor.TNN
