Man held for slitting daughters’ throats | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A 25-year-old construction worker, Chhotu Singh, was arrested early Monday for allegedly slitting the throats of his two minor daughters after a fight with his wife, Madhuri Kumari. The incident occurred in Madanpur Sanghat Road locality of Aurangabad district on Sunday night. The two minor girls – Arpita Kumari (7) and Aradhya Kumari (3) – are in critical condition. The accused also attacked the police team with a sharp weapon. Two cops – in charge of Madanpur police station and a sub-inspector – were injured.
“Singh and his wife had been quarrelling for days. On Sunday, Singh called his father-in-law, asking him to take his daughter away. A few hours later, the father-in-law arrived and tried to mediate, suggesting they leave in the morning. Everything seemed calm till late at night when Singh started assaulting his wife again. She managed to escape, but Singh chased her with a sharp weapon. Unable to catch her, he turned on the children and allegedly slit their throats with the intent to kill. When the father-in-law tried to intervene, Singh attacked him too,” Madanpur SHO Rajesh Kumar said.
The father-in-law informed the police, who rushed the girls to Madanpur community health centre. They were later referred to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College in Aurangabad for further treatment. However, when the police returned to arrest Singh, he attacked the officers with a sharp weapon. SHO Rajesh Kumar said, “When we arrived, Singh was hiding inside. The daughters were screaming, covered in blood. We took them to the hospital. Later, when we went to arrest him, he attacked us. Sub-inspector Pappu Paswan and I suffered minor injuries in the attack.”
