5 held for duping 2k of Rs 5 crore in name of online loans | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: Five cyberfrauds, including four from Telangana, were arrested from a house in Ram Krishna Nagar police station area of Patna on Wednesday for allegedly duping around 2,000 people of Rs 5 crore on the pretext of providing loans.
Gopal Kumar, alias Rahul, from Nalanda has been identified as the mastermind of the gang.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Raghwendra Mani Tripathi, who is cyber police station in charge, said 13 mobile phones, a laptop, three stamps and five ATM cards were recovered from them.
“Wey received complaints about some phone numbers being used to deceive people with loan offers and commit fraud. The cyber police began tracking these numbers. Some were found deactivated, but one number remained active. By tracking this number, the police arrested the five, including Gutta Shivakumar, Maruti, Varla Supakar and P Vikam, from the fifth floor of the house in Ram Krishna Nagar.”
The gang leader revealed that they created fake advertisements in the name of popular financial institutions to offer loans, and posted them on Facebook and Instagram. These ads included the gang’s phone number.
“When someone called us, we would deceive them and charge them between Rs 15,000-20,000 in the name of loan processing and GST,” he confessed to police.
The DSP said over 2,000 people’s documents were found on the recovered laptop and cellphones.|
