Patna: A team of 50 youths, including 23 girls, from Karnataka reached Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya in the wee hours of Monday on a five-day visit of Bihar under the Yuva Sangam Phase-5 programme of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat‘, a scheme launched by the govt of India aimed at fostering youth connections across the nation.
CUSB officials and academics, led by vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh, accorded the team members a warm reception.
Giving details of the visiting youths’ activities in the state, CUSB public relations officer Mohd Mudassir Alam said the youths would be taken to Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya and Patna to get the experience of the diverse facets of life, culture and recent technological achievements in Bihar. CUSB is the nodal university of Bihar under the initiative of the Union govt.
A civic felicitation ceremony for these youths has also been organised at Shankaracharya Math, Bodh Gaya, in which the state minister for environment, forest and climate change Prem Kumar will be the chief guest. They would also meet governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan before leaving for Karnataka.
The aim of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme is to increase the interaction between the people of the state/union territories and promote mutual understanding. “Through these programmes, the govt of India is emphasizing learning the language of each other’s states, culture, tradition and music, tourism and cuisine, sports and sharing best practices so that a sense of unity in diversity is created through cultural contact,” the vice-chancellor said.
