Congress Protests Against Mosquito Menace in Cuttack with Eye-Catching Demonstration | Bhubaneswar News

Cuttack: In a bid to highlight the growing mosquito menace in the city, Congress members on Tuesday set up mosquito nets at the busy Badambadi area as they protested against the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for failure to deal with the issue.
Party members also filed a police complaint against CMC commissioner Anam Patra and health officer Satyabrata Mohapatra, accusing them of negligence.
“Despite repeated appeals, the CMC has failed to take timely and effective measures to tackle the mosquito menace, leaving residents vulnerable to dengue and malaria,” Congress leader Sisir Rath said. He also criticized Patra, who apparently said, “Should I personally go and use fogging machines in the city?”, which the party found to be dismissive.
Congress leader Ramachandra Gochhayat, who took part in the protest, highlighted the deteriorating health conditions in the city. “CMC’s apathy is evident. We won’t remain silent until concrete steps are taken to protect the health and safety of Cuttack’s residents,” he said.
Responding to the charges, the CMC commissioner said, “The allegations are false and baseless. We have intensified fogging operations with 118 workers across 59 wards, along with ongoing bush-cutting activities.”
