BJP to Restructure Organizational Units Ahead of Lok Sabha Delimitation | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: In anticipation of the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies in the next couple of years, the state BJP has decided to go for restructuring of its lower-level organizational units, as part of which the number of its block-level ‘mandals’ and organizational districts would be increased for better management, state BJP chief Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said here on Monday.
“We anticipate that the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies would be done in the next couple of years. As a result, the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in the country would increase by 100 to 150. It requires the restructuring of the party’s units for better management,” Jaiswal told reporters at the party’s state headquarters.
Elaborating further, he said the state has 77,000 polling booths. Accordingly, the reconstitution of their organisational units would be completed by December 15. For every polling booth, the BJP would have 10-12 member committee, headed by its president.
“The renewal of the membership of the BJP workers is done every six years. I am happy that it is being accomplished in the state when I am the party’s state president. We have completed the exercise with regard to primary and active workers. Now, after the constitution of the booth-level committees, the ‘mandal’ and district units of the party would also be constituted, but before that their numbers will be increased,” Jaiswal said, adding that it was being done in consultation with the district core committees, MPs and MLAs.
Presently, the state BJP has 1,136 ‘mandals’ and 45 organisational districts. He said the revised age-limit for becoming ‘mandal’ president is 45 years, and 60 years for district president. Also, around six districts, including Gaya, Samastipur and Darbhanga, are “electorally big districts having eight to 10 assembly constituencies,” needing their sub division.
Each of the six districts would be divided into two units of the party for “better management”. Gaya would have separate Gaya north and Gaya south district units. Similarly, Ujiarpur district would be carved out of Samastipur. “However, we will make the recommendation, and the party’s central headquarters will take the final decision on it,” Jaiswal said.
