Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday nabbed a most wanted criminal while he was trying to flee by firing at cops at Rengali, Sambalpur district. Police said the criminal, identified as Sanjib Karali, was injured during the exchange of fire. Karali is part of a gang of 12 criminals, and the mastermind of the recent looting of construction materials at Charmal. “We got a tip, and the Sambalpur SP led the operation. Earlier, four members of the gang were apprehended,” said Himanshu Lal, IG (northern range). Karali has more than 23 cases registered against him across multiple districts.TNN
