MUMBAI: A 25-year-old model lost her life in a hit-and-run at Bandra West on Thursday while she was travelling pillion on a friend’s motorcycle.
Her friend suffered a leg fracture. Bandra Police said a water tanker had a head-on collision with the motorcycle. The tanker driver is on the run.
Shivani Singh, the deceased, lived in Malad. Police said Singh and her friend were on a motorcycle and reached Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road at Bandra around 8pm. Her friend was wearing a helmet.
A water tanker came up in front of them and had a head-on collision with the two-wheeler. Singh was thrown off the two-wheeler and came under the tanker’s wheel. She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Bhabha Hospital by bystanders.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her friend was also brought to the hospital and was found to have suffered a leg fracture. Police said the tanker driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Police are examining CCTV footage to locate him.
