Patna: One of the criminals, involved in snatching of Rs 4.5 lakh from the two employees of a jewellery store in Kankarbagh area of the state capital, was arrested within 24 hours of the incident on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the incident had occurred on Old Bypass Road near the branch of a bank. The two staff members of the jewellery store on a bike had gone to deposit the money collected from the store in the bank. Miscreants snatched the bag from them and fled the spot on Friday afternoon.
“Based on the CCTV footage, the direction in which the criminals fled was pursued. During the process, a white bike was found abandoned near the Patliputra Sports Complex. As part of the investigation, the police hid and waited there. But later it was found that the criminals’ bike ran out of the fuel, which is why they left it there and escaped in an auto-rickshaw. However, when one of the criminals returned to retrieve the bike later in the day, the police apprehended him,” said Kankarbagh SHO, Neeraj Kumar Thakur.
Thakur further mentioned that the arrested miscreant revealed the name of the other person involved in the crime. “Raids are being conducted to nab him,” he added.
