Woman arrested at Mumbai airport for using fake documents to travel to UK | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A woman was prevented from boarding a flight to the UK at Mumbai International Airport because she had fake documents. These included an e-Migrate letter, a continuous discharge certificate (CDC-Seaman Book), and a joining letter from a shipping company in Navi Mumbai.
The police arrested the passenger, Satnam Kaur (33), for cheating and forgery after immigration officials noticed discrepancies in her documents on Sunday.
Kaur, who is from Jalandhar, wanted to settle in the UK. She contacted an agent who helped her procure the fake documents for her journey.
“The immigration officials got suspicious when the woman failed to give a satisfactory answer to the work role she had been assigned to join the ship,” said an officer from Sahar police station.
This prompted the immigration officials to verify the documents. They discovered that the e-Migrate letter was unverified and fake.
“Meanwhile, the Navi Mumbai shipping agency that claimed to have issued the joining letter turned out fake when they contacted them. Also, the CDC was a fake one which she got without appearing in any course from the shipping institute,” added the officer.
The police team investigating the case is currently looking for the agent who assisted her in obtaining the fake documents.
