President Murmu Launches Odisha Parba: A Global Celebration of Culture and Peace | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu Friday inaugurated a three-day-long Odisha Parba in New Delhi and said that it is more than a festival — it’s a global celebration of Odisha’s timeless heritage and the indomitable spirit of its people.
“Odisha Parba has played an important role in making people aware of the rich heritage of Odisha’s art, literature, dance, music, and cuisine. Rooted in the sacred Jagannath culture, the festival reflects unity, pride, and traditions that transcend boundaries,” she said.
Murmu further said that in a world craving harmony, let us embrace the path of peace inspired by Buddhism — a serene weapon to restore balance and soothe the soul. “Goodwill is the shield against negativity, empowering us to safeguard our mental peace from disruptive forces,” said the President.
She said the Kalinga War turned “Chandashoka” into “Dharmashoka”. “This war teaches us that peace is important for progress. Some parts of today’s world are facing conflicts. The Kalinga War chapter of Odisha’s history can show the path of peace to the world,” she said.
She further said that the most important aspect of Odisha’s culture is tolerance of its people. She urged people to live with affection and harmony and work to the best of their ability for India and Odisha as well.
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan also attended the Odisha Parba and said that it is a proud moment for every Odia as Odisha’s talent shines globally, showcasing the state’s essence beyond borders. “As proud citizens, it’s our privilege to see our motherland gaining recognition and valuable insights worldwide,” he said.
Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, gracing the event, said Odias are excelling globally while staying rooted in their heritage. “Celebrating our resilient spirit and rich traditions like Boita Bandana, we honour Odisha’s cultural diversity. The Make in Odisha Conclave – Utkarsh Odisha is a proud step toward global recognition,” said the chief minister.
He said along with art and culture, economic development is also important. “Without the development of people at all levels of society, we cannot move forward solely on culture. Therefore, our govt has started vigorous efforts to accelerate industrial development in the state,” he said.
